Life is a lot of fun for Ramona, but things get serious when her dad (the luscious John Corbett from "Sex and the City") finds his job has been downsized. She also delights in aggravating her big sister, Beezus (Disney starlet Selena Gomez). Ramona (Joey King) is a rambunctious third-grader who delights in life and has her fair share of mishaps, as a 9-year-old is apt to do. Now those stories have been adapted to film in "Ramona and Beezus," and it is a delightful tribute to the books, as well as a treat for the family. I inhaled these charming books, as well as Cleary's "Henry Huggins" books as a third-grader at McGaha Elementary School, and I have very fond memories of them. ![]() Children have grown up reading the Beverly Cleary books about the tomboy Ramona Quimby, her long-suffering sister, Beatrice or "Beezus," and their lively adventures. ![]()
